2017-06-15 Oral reading fluency is the ability to “read text with speed, accuracy, and proper expression” [NRP, 2000]. Expressiveness is the ability to read with a prosodic contour appropriate to the meaning of the text, which reflects an understanding of the text [Schwanenflugel et al., 2006]. Educators measure oral reading fluency in two ways. This study aims to determine how listening comprehension levels of students are affected by listening to prosodic and non-prosodic readings vocalized by a computer and human.
